handmade vase, large hand carved stoneware vase.

This handmade carved stoneware vase with a multi-tone glaze effect is made by hand from start to finish.
I start by throwing the base on the wheel. Once hard enough I turn it over and trim the base itself. It is then taken off the wheel and coils of clay are built up over several days to form the shape. I start carving the pot when it is leather hard.
Once dry it is fired twice. First to 1000 deg C. The final firing is when I apply the glaze, which in this case is 3 colours hand painted on the outside in several layers of each to get the 2 tone effect.
It then gets its 2nd firing to 1240 deg C making it extremely tough and waterproof.
